You may not like it but you ALREADY have a personal brand. Yes, you're no Kardashian, but you still have a personal brand which, in simple terms, is also known as your reputation.

As Amazon founder Jeff Bezos famously said, your brand is what others say about you when you’re not in the room.

Think of it as what you’re known for and what makes you memorable. Your reputation is helpful for you to grow awareness of the change you want to make or the skills you want to share with the world.

It might be uncomfortable at first, but the transformative power of unlocking your personal brand to champion a cause through PR can increase your impact, influence and income for your organisation FAST.

Take Emma Watson, for instance. Beyond her iconic role as Hermione Granger, Emma strategically employs PR to advocate for gender equality, making significant strides in societal change.

Through initiatives like the HeForShe campaign, Emma mobilizes men to support gender equality, sparking global conversations with her impassioned United Nations speech. Her vocal support for #MeToo amplifies voices against harassment and assault, while her advocacy for women's education resonates globally.

The GREAT news is, you don't need to be a superstar like Emma to make a meaningful impact. I can remember back in 2007, I co-founded a registered harm prevention charity, WINGS of Hope. It was on quite a taboo topic and yet, through reaching out to national media outlets with our news story, we were able to gain PR that was broadcast across the country and increased our credibility overnight.

Through creating a plan and strategic storytelling, we elevated the brand's visibility and beyond our wildest dreams, attracted funding for our first project. Encouraged by the results, we had a strong story for our ongoing applications and grew quickly. In the same way, in my two decades as a PR consultant, I've helped numerous unknown brands secure national media coverage, growing their profile, influence and revenue. In 2024, I’m excited to be sharing all I know with you on your change making journey!

By sharing your stories, expertise, and passions, you’ll amplify your voice, shape previous narratives, and inspire action. Let's ignite the positive change we want in the world by placing a PR strategy into our 2024 plans. Our voices matter, and with PR, we can make a lasting difference in causes close to our hearts.
